Jaslyn Christie, a proud citizen of the Cherokee Nation, is currently working towards a degree in General Engineering at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado.
Christie was born in Park Hill, Oklahoma, where she spent much of her time involved in sports, hunting, fishing, and anything else connecting her to nature. Jaslyn was also an accomplished basketball and soccer player for Fort Gibson High School, as well as top of her class. She enjoyed many clubs, such as National Honors Society, Exchange, and Student Council.
Her papa, who always took her to the creek and powwows, was her first inspiration into seeking out more knowledge about her culture. She participated in the 2024 Remember the Removal ride as a youth rider where she learned valuable lessons not only about herself, but her ancestors who walked the Trail of Tears. She realized her inner strength, the beauty of nature, and the value of teamwork. She also connected with many people on the trail, some her teammates, and others who hosted her team after long hours of riding. The Remember the Removal ride not only deepened her connection with her heritage, but also forged many lifelong connections that she is forever grateful for.
