Camerin Fite James, a citizen of the Cherokee Nation, serves as the Executive Assistant and Special Project Officer to the Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation, the country’s largest tribal government with more than 460,000 tribal citizens. His experience includes championing policy, initiatives, and leading day-to-day operations administered by the Office of the Principal Chief.
Camerin grew up in Fort Gibson where he spent much of his time involved in the community. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Political Science. He is currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Relations from Northeastern State University and will graduate May 2025.
He was named a distinguished Presidential Leader by Northeastern State University, an Oklahoma NextGen 30Under30, and has been recognized for his leadership roles by several local organizations. Camerin and his wife Sarah make their home on the Cherokee Nation Reservation in Tahlequah.
