Ashawna Miles, a citizen of the Cherokee Nation, serves as the Director of Self-Governance for Cherokee Nation. Ashawna is an accomplished leader with 25+ years of combined experience in Human Resources at both profit and non-profit industries. As the Director of Self-Governance, Miles oversees and coordinates all aspects of compacts between Cherokee Nation and multi-governmental departments and entities. Miles ensures obligations of Self-Governance for Cherokee Nation are met and is the contact for government-to-government partnership on all matters impacting Cherokee Nation Self-Governance activities.
Ashawna is a powerful force in the workplace and uses her positive attitude and energy to encourage others to work hard and succeed. Ashawna is inspired daily by her husband and their 3-children. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, outdoors and trying various foods. Ashawna holds a Bachelor’s from Langston University.
